PV evidence for UK NZCBS

PV data and the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard

The NZC Microgeneration App turns metered solar PV output into the on-site renewables evidence buildings need — generation, self-consumption, export and allocation, recorded per asset and per occupier.

Why metered PV data matters for NZCBS reporting

The UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard sets out expectations for on-site renewable energy alongside operational energy and embodied carbon. Where a building claims on-site renewables, that claim rests on what was generated and where it was used — not on design-stage yield estimates.

NZC Solar covers the data side of that picture. We monitor microgeneration assets, separate self-consumed electricity from export, allocate generation between landlord and tenants, and export the records as evidence. Independent NZCBS assessment and certification advisory sits with NZC Consultants.

What the microgeneration record covers

Metered on-site generation

Half-hourly generation data from every PV and microgeneration asset, recorded at meter level rather than estimated from design models — the starting point for any on-site renewables claim.

Self-consumption vs export

Split of generation used on site against volumes exported to the grid, so renewable electricity is only counted where it was actually consumed in the building.

Landlord and tenant allocation

Attribution of generation between landlord demise, tenant demise and common parts, so each party reports the share they can genuinely claim and double counting is avoided.

Portfolio roll-up

Site-level data aggregated across a portfolio, with consistent units, periods and asset references for fund-level and building-level reporting.

Evidence packs

Exportable packs combining generation, consumption, export and allocation records with a clear audit trail for assessors, auditors and assurance teams.

Context for wider claims

PV performance data alongside other site energy so renewables are reported in proportion to total demand, not in isolation.

Who this is for

Property funds and REITs

Needing consistent, metered renewable generation evidence across a portfolio for investors, lenders and assessors.

Landlords and asset managers

Operating multi-let buildings where PV output must be split fairly between landlord, tenants and common parts.

Sustainability and reporting teams

Preparing renewables evidence that stands up to review, based on measured data rather than design assumptions.
